-
- You'll get a nasty surprise Matt. I was having very few problems with
- 4.x, and have installed 5.0 with patch. Aside from being a slug (I
- needed to add another 16MB to my 16MB RAM to get it to stop thrashing
- my disk, and it still runs slow on my 486-66 DX2), it gives me page
- faults and GPFs on a regular basis at random times within the IDE.
- Furthermore, it frequently hangs when compiling. The status box will
- just display a "Checking Dependencies..." or "Compiling..." message
- then hang the app.
-
- Pete, I'm not convinced that a problem caused by other apps would
- manifest itself only in the Borland IDE. However, I appreciate that
- you've provided at least some feedback. This is far more than I've
- received for my efforts through the formal Borland channels.
-
- After looking through the existing bug list, technical papers, and
- voluminous FaxBack catalogue to no avail, I submitted the Page Fault
- and GPF dumps in separate bug reports using the new Borland bug
- reporting procedure. All I got was the following glib response (one
- for each bug report):

-
- I can't even respond to the above email message as it just sends a
- message with instructions on properly submitting a bug!
-
- So, here I am, having spent $490.15 CDN on the BC 5.0 developer's
- edition upgrade, plus the cost of 16MB RAM, and I'm told I've got to
- pay to get the damn thing to work! ARRRGGGHHH!!! Not bloody likely!
- I'll send it back if I have to.
-
- I'd not air my dirty laundry with Borland on this forum, but their
- indifference and isolation from developers is frustrating and
- insulting.
